Supporting Women in International Trade: Lessons from Europe and Canada

what

Trade is not gender neutral. Its impact is shaped by the structure of markets and institutions and the gender inequalities that are embedded within them. Consequently, trade policies and agreements influence the opportunities women and men have to access secure and decent employment and to benefit from international trade.

Both Canada and Europe have taken a number of initiatives to promote women-led trade. Organized by the EU Delegation in Canada, the Embassy of Belgium in Canada and a wide range of partners, this roundtable will aim at exchanging lessons learnt & best practices on designing, implementing, evaluating, monitoring and strengthening policies and initiatives that encourage women’s participation in the international trade.
